radioactive orchestra is an attempt to interpret gamma radiation, which has its origin in the nuclei of atoms, and translate it into sounds and music. gamma radiation consists of photons and is, in essence, the same kind of radiation as light and radio waves - electromagnetic radiation - but with a very high energy level. in collaboration with nuclear physicists bo cederwall and torbjörn bäck, music producer axel boman and media artist kristofer hagbard have created musical algorithms based on the scientists models of how radiation is emitted from various isotopes. the resulting output of melodies and sounds have been arranged into the following musical experiments. limited to 200 copies!

after their tremendously popular > famous ep< from earlier this year - which with the erlend oye-sampled > raindrops< featured one of the secret weapons of this rainy summers festival season - colognes most lovely hotspurs are back with a bang! >gravity< perfectly captures the raw energy of their live sets. highly infective staccato basslines and a thrilling storytelling characterize this class a stomper. the flipside tracks operate on a deeper level. >total dly< sounds like an homage to fellow colonian the modernist with its jumpy yet elegant chord patterns while the lullaby-ish - fiction- is the perfect end-of-the-night track complete with a tender vocoder chorus and all. what sets coma apart from most of their competition out there is their capability of creating emotive, highly recognizable music that is as much pop as it is techno. which obviously makes them as kompakt as can be.

four obscure italo, funk and electronic tracks directly from the marcellos 7 inch collection. zombi and in the land of zombi are two killer dub disco tracks released in the south of italy in 1979. enigma are from germany, but released on the super disco italian label out, the track sounds like a space soundtrack with arpeggios and chorus from the grave. why o is a 100% italian afro disco track produced by the maestro paolo ormi.

living it out – perhaps the most unabashedly danceable song on janine planningtorock rostrons dfa debut album w – comes on (that is to say, seduces) in just the right ways. the song is all addictive disco, with synthesized string skitterings and rostrons voice purring out (she sounds like a futuristic eartha kitt here) a perfect melody that somehow gets even better at the chorus. its pure pleasure upsurge from beat-driven start to pizzicatto end, the kind of song that lets you know that, amidst rostrons many musical idiosyncracies, included is the ability to write a song that simply drags you out onto the dancefloor.

after the successful zenker brothers record, we continue with a solo record by dario zenker. it sounds like dario bought some healthy food, went to mcdonalds and i ate it there to provoke some marketing campaign against intensive livestock farming. we know for a fact that he has an unlimited love for good food, dirty old school hip hop, porn, broken beats and kung fu by the way. his flat on the 5th floor gets a lot of light during the summer and also heats up a lot. can you smellthe sweat? speaking of sweat, you should check out inner circles sweat. instead of a proper high 5, we would even give 6 for this one! oh what a bad way of trying to make some sense with the track title... but honestly give 6 is a hard one. well i guess its time to stop writing some weird shit and start listening...

in recent times it has been fashionable for european producers to try and recreate the classic sounds of detroit. the true vibe and feel can surely only come from the city itself? as his name suggests, whilst we know very little about anonym, we do know that he hails from the legendary motor city, and the true essence of his home town can be heard and felt in his music. classic sounds constructed with a modern touch. gritty, raw and crying out for sweaty basements. in 2011 anonym has finally arrived on vakant and is set to release his first record on the label. his > flivvers vol.1 ep< will be followed by vol.2 later this year.

the two artists jakob seidensticker and bardia salour take care of a wonderful and fabulous background of this ep. they give the original track - short image in my brain - a new sound. with dedication and passion this remix is a treat for your ears just from the beginning. bounded on the track you will absorb every sound and let yourself drift. another wonderful vinyl extraction presented by enough!

while the first release on wania, busen & paleos >stream of love< (featuring dj sotofetts anthemic overdub-12inchedit) was a rather leftfield affair, dritfett is aimed more directly towards the dancefloor. the label artwork gives a clear clue as to what this release is all about: amongst a number of cryptic messages and shout-outs in norwegian - a tr-909 logo. all the tracks here are based around the 909 - thunderous kickdrums and sharp, hissing hi-hats that cut through the mix. still, theres a broad range of sounds, from head-down, fists-clenched warehouse workouts with an industrial edge, to more melodic tracks with detroit references aplenty. make no mistake though: this is all about the power of the almighty 909. theres no fancy tricks here‚ no ableton-trickery or polished waveforms, just good honest techno with a real raw live feel. this gives the tracks the energy and spontaneity that is sorely missed in many of todays productions. the kind of energy you will find - in abundance - in the house and techno releases of the 90s. the kind of energy that can only be achieved by pressing play on a machine, frenetically twisting knobs and punching buttons while letting the energy of the room decide where to go next.
